Ilana Glazer has set a new comedy special titled “Human Magic” at Hulu.
“Human Magic” was taped at the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre in Toronto in May of this year during Glazer’s 48-city tour across the U.S. and Canada. This is their second stand-up special, following “Ilana Glazer: The Planet Is Burning,” which debuted on Amazon Prime Video in 2020 and saw them discuss their “thoughts on homophobes and Nazis, how crappy women’s razors are and what a joke the patriarchy is.”
Glazer is best known for “Broad City,” the Comedy Central series they co-created, co-showran and co-starred in with Abbi Jacobson. After debuting as a webseries, “Broad City” ran on Comedy Central for five seasons. In film, Glazer’s credits include co-writing and starring in Pamela Adlon’s 2024 comedy “Babes” and John Lee’s 2021 horror “False Positive.” They also played roles in “Broad City” executive producers Lucia Aniello and Paul W. Downs’ 2017 movie “Rough Night,” Season 1 of Apple TV+’s “The Afterparty” and both seasons of Netflix’s “Green Eggs and Ham” series.
Jeff Tomsic directed “Human Magic,” which was produced by Rotten Science and Starrpix. The special is the newest addition to Hulu’s new “Hularious” stand-up comedy brand, which the streamer is launching in November with “Jim Gaffigan: The Skinny.” Other comics with forthcoming Hularious specials include Bill Butt and Roy Wood Jr., with more set to be announced as the brand also prepared to launch a collection of licensed specials released by 800 Pound Gorilla, Comedy Dynamics and more.
