Prasanth Varma’s ‘HanuMan’, one of the biggest hits of 2024, is set for a Japan release in October. The film will also have a special re-release in India. Director Prasanth Varma shared that Hanu-Man has been converted to 3D, and the international versions will be released in 3D.

Prashanth told Hindustan Times, “We have converted ‘HanuMan’ into 3D now, and the international versions will be released in 3D. We are planning to re-release the film in 3D in selected screens in India around the same time as the Japanese release.”

Japan has become a lucrative market for South Indian films after the success of ‘RRR’ (2022) and ‘Kalki 2898 AD’.

Prasanth noted that South Indian sensibilities are closer to Japanese and Korean emotions, making the films appealing to the Japanese audience. He said, “Over time, the North has had very heavy influence of the West. They have started imitating West in the last decade as compared to the South. The South Indian sensibilities are still very close to Japan and Korea in terms of emotions, and if your film has potential, the Japanese audience is embracing it.”

‘HanuMan’ was a massive box office success in a challenging year for Indian films. Prasanth attributed the success to low ticket prices, making it affordable for a larger audience.
