SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A bluff collapsed Monday near Torrey Pines City Beach in La Jolla.
Around 4:12 p.m., SkyFOX/KUSI in the Sky captured video of sand and rocks falling down the cliff for at least two minutes, sending a plume of dirt into the air.
Several onlookers on the beach could be seen watching the bluff collapse unfold.
Amber Alert issued for missing children, ages 2 and 4
The bluff collapse occurred shortly after SkyFOX/KUSI in the Sky left a cliff rescue north of the incident.
In January 2023, a bluff collapse on Black’s Beach caused a trail closure. Pat Abbott, a professor of geology at San Diego State University, called the collapse the most significant failure in 40 years.
