Jail cells at Hakea Prison originally designed for one person are being packed with up to three inmates at a time – prompting fears that a full-blown riot could spark at any time.
The cells have been known to swelter to an almost unbearable 55C in summer, sparking further concerns about additional unrest inside the Canning Vale jail over the warmer months.
