Update on Tuesday, Aug. 20: The York County Coroner’s Office says it appears that Joshua Markey died after he fell and suffered blunt force injuries. He was pronounced dead at 3 p.m. Monday.
Markey lived in the 300 block of South Camp Street in Windsor Township, the release states.
The manner of death is pending further investigation, the release states. An autopy will not be done.
Update at 4:45 p.m.: The missing hiker was found deceased in the state game lands, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
The York County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene, and an autopsy is scheduled, state police said in a news release.
No foul play is suspected, the release states.

Pennsylvania State Police, Troop J, York Station is conducting a missing persons investigation for 47-year-old Joshua Markey of Red Lion, according to a news release.
On Aug.15, 2024 at approximately 8:43 a.m., Markey parked his vehicle off of Furnace Road, just west of Indian Steps Road, Lower Chanceford Township, York County and has not been seen since, according to the release.
Markey is an avid hiker, and it is believed that he was hiking the Mason Dixon Trail within PA State Game Lands 83.
He is described as a white male, approximately 6 foot 3 inches tall, and weighing approximately 190 pounds.
Markey typically wears a hiking vest and use hiking poles.
