A former Abilene ISD educator has been arrested for allegedly engaging in an improper relationship with a student.

Anyone accused of a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

Police began investigating in late July after being notified by Abilene ISD regarding a possible relationship between Grigg and one of his former students, according to an APD press release.

Through the investigation, electronic evidence and other investigative information were gathered leading to his arrest.

According to Taylor County Jail records, the alleged offense date is Feb. 1.

The district immediately placed Grigg on administrative leave to assist with the investigation and ensure the safety of students, and AISD has been working cooperatively with APD investigators, according to the press release.

Because of Grigg’s involvement with children as a music instructor at Cooper High School, police urge anyone with information pertaining to Grigg to contact the police department by calling the nonemergency phone number at 325-673-8331.

According to the Texas Education Agency website, Grigg was first certified to teach music for grades EC-12 in Dec. 2008. He is currently under review by the TEA Educator Investigations Division.
