“Dancing With the Stars” has landed its own Clark Kent. American Olympic medalist Stephen Nedoroscik is the first celebrity announced for Season 33 of the reality competition show.
The full cast reveal of “DWTS” will be announced at a later date. Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough will return as co-hosts for the upcoming seasons as Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough will return to the judges’ table. The new season will kick off on Sept. 17 at 8 p.m., simulcasting on ABC and Disney+, with next-day viewing on Hulu.
Nedoroscik, known as the “pommel horse guy,” captured hearts at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games as part of the U.S. Men’s Gymnastics team, which took home their first team medal (bronze) in 16 years. The 25-year-old athlete also won the individual bronze medal on the pommel horse.
He also uses his platform to support individuals with low vision, as he lives with strabismus, he previously shared on TikTok. When he removed his glasses during the Olympics, he generated many Clark Kent comparison memes on social media — including one from the official Olympics Twitter account, calling him “the Clark Kent of pommel horse!”
In an interview with “Today,” he explained what he sees while competing without glasses.
“It’s not necessarily clear, but the thing about pommel horse is if I keep them on, they’re gonna fly somewhere,” he said. “When I go up on the pommel horse, it’s all about feeling the equipment. I don’t even really see when I’m doing my gymnastics. It’s all in the hands — I can feel everything.”
