After solidifying plans to build its first Kansas City area location, international cafe Paris Baguette is looking to open another spot in Johnson County.
The coffee shop and bakery filed an application to build a location at 15895 Metcalf Ave. in Overland Park, according to city documents.
Paris Baguette — which originated in Seoul, South Korea, in 1988 — sells breakfast sandwiches, French-style pastries, lunch options and coffee drinks. It’s especially popular for its wide selection of cakes.
Today, it has locations across the world, including dozens in the United States, according to its website.
There are currently none in the Kansas City area, but that will soon change.
Separately, Mike Issa, a franchisee with the company, is looking to open another spot at 95th Street and Nieman Road, near Oak Park Mall. That location is poised to open by the end of the year.
“It’s amazing,” Issa told The Star earlier this year. “The atmosphere, the decoration, the aroma of the cakes and the pastries we do. … We love the concept and we’re looking to expand more.”
Issa opened a location in Wichita in 2022.
In addition to the Oak Park Mall spot, he’s looking to bring two more locations to the Kansas City area.
Issa is not involved in the 159th Street and Metcalf Avenue spot. It’s unclear when that location could open. The company did not immediately respond to The Star’s request for comment Friday.
A few items on Paris Baguette’s menu: lemon citrus layer cake, cappuccino cake, berry tarts, Hawaiian jalapeno quiche, and harvest chicken salad sandwich.
