‘Ted Lasso’ Eyes Season 4 Greenlight – MASHAHER

“Ted Lasso” is heading towards a Season 4 greenlight, Variety has confirmed.

Warner Bros. Television has picked up the options on original cast members Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein and Jeremy Swift. It’s believed that Jason Sudeikis is involved in the revival in some capacity as an executive producer. Warner Bros. TV declined to comment.

Waddingham, Goldstein and Swift are known at this time because they are U.K. Equity members, and have different deals than the U.S. SAG-AFTRA cast. Those negotiations will happen next.

Talk of a “Ted Lasso” revival has been in the air since the show ended its run. Back in January, Warner Bros. TV CEO Channing Dungey teased to Variety the possibility of the series continuing after its Season 3 finale, which aired last year.

“I mean, you watched the finale, there’s a little bit of a door that could be kicked back open if need be,” Dungey said. “I wouldn’t put the period on the end of that sentence just yet. There is still a lot of love for ‘Ted Lasso.’ And I think that there still is a lot of enthusiasm on the part of Apple for ‘Ted Lasso.’ Should the opportunity arise, we’d be excited to jump back in to making more…. There are always conversations that are ongoing, just nothing that’s official.”

“Ted Lasso” follows Sudeikis as its title character, a small-time college football coach from Kansas hired to coach a professional soccer team in England, despite having no experience coaching soccer. Waddingham, Goldstein, Swift, Brendan Hunt, Juno Temple and Phil Dunster also star.

The series was developed by Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Hunt and Joe Kelly, and is based on the pre-existing format and characters from NBC Sports.

Deadline was first to report the “Ted Lasso” news.
