Three McLane High students arrested following shooting near the school, deputies say – MASHAHER

Three McLane High students were arrested following a shooting near the school this week.

The arrests came after police arrested a 16-year-old gunman in a nearby neighborhood.

The shooting happened at 3:40 p.m. Wednesday near an Auto Zone, located at Clinton and Cedar avenues. Deputies arrived and found no shooting victims.

Deputies learned there was a disturbance between a large group of students who attended the school before shots were fired.

Some of these bullets struck a vehicle and a nearby restaurant, deputies said.

The 16-year-old alleged shooter was arrested in a neighborhood, deputies said.

Detectives with the Multi-Agency Gang Enforcement Consortium followed with the arrest of two suspects who are both 15-year-old.

Deputies arrested one 15-year-old boy who allegedly pistol whipped another person and also arrested another 15-year-old boy who helped both gunmen dispose of their firearms, deputies said.

The guns have not been recovered.

Deputies said witnesses helped deputies by giving them descriptions of the people involved, including the gunman. Video surveillance also captured the shooting.

MAGEC, Fresno Police Department, a School Resource Officer (SRO) and Violent Criminal Apprehension Team worked the case.

The teens were booked into juvenile hall and each are facing gun related charges, deputies said.

“The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office and Fresno Police Department hope these arrests bring a sense of relief to the McLane High School community as it heads into its next week of session,” deputies said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 559-600-3111 or Valley Crime Stoppers at 559-498-7867, www.valleycrimestoppers.org and will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward. Reference case# 24-9575.
