Geelong can clinch a spot in the top four — and potentially move as high as second — as it hosts West Coast in each side’s final home-and-away game for 2024.

The Cats (14-8, 107.7%) can still fall as low as eighth with a loss, whereas a win will guarantee them at least fourth — percentage would then determine whether they can catch GWS (approx. 10 goals ahead) and Port Adelaide (approx. 20 goals ahead).

The Eagles (5-17, 70%) will hope to avoid their traditional thumping loss at Kardinia Park, where they’ve lost nine straight matches by an average of over 10 goals.

The Cats have made a trio of changes, with the soon-retiring Zach Tuohy returning after being managed, joined by Jed Bews and Tanner Bruhn in the side.

Gary Rohan, Oisin Mullin and Mitch Knevitt are the three that make way for the inclusions.

Meanwhile, travelling West Coast has made five changes for its last game of 2024 — with all of Clay Hall, Ryan Maric, Campbell Chesser, Jack Hutchinson and Rhett Bazzo included by caretaker coach Jarrad Schofield.

The outs comprised the retired Andrew Gaff, the injured Jeremy McGovern, Liam Ryan, Alex Witherden and Zane Trew.

The match gets underway at 1:45pm AEST from GMHBA Stadium.

Watch it live on Fox Footy (channel 504), streaming on Kayo and via Hubbl from 1pm AEST.

GEELONG vs. WEST COAST — LIVE UPDATES

The final team and subs for each side will be named one hour before the first bounce at 12:45pm AEST.

There were no late changes, with Jed Bews (Geelong) and Ryan Maric (West Coast) named the starting substitutes.

Not even halfway through the opening term and the Eagles are already on the canvas, having conceded the first six goals of the game — with two each already for Jeremy Cameron and Ollie Henry.

“Hanging by a thread already, the Eagles … alarm bells ringing for the Eagles,” Hawthorn legend Jason Dunstall lamented.

Henry booted his third major of the first term to expand Geelong’s commanding lead to 42 points.
