Fresh off serving a four-game suspension, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves could be set for another stint on the sideline after being sin binned in the Roosters’ clash with the Titans on Sunday.

Waerea-Hargreaves was sent to the bin in the 11th minute for a high shot on Titans hooker — and former Rooster — Sam Verrills.

The veteran prop’s shoulder collided with Verrills’ chin, forcing referee Adam Gee to take action.

“It’s been deemed direct, moderate force,” Gee said before giving him his marching orders.

Warea-Hargreaves was only just returning from a four-game ban for a high shot in Sunday’s match.

The 35-year-old was initially hit with a three-game suspension for shooting out of the line and collecting Max Feagai high in Round 18, but after choosing to fight it and failing the ban was increased to four games.

As Fox League commentator Warren Smith highlighted, this latest incident was “similar” to what Waerea-Hargreaves was in hot water for in Round 18.

“He just plays at 100 miles an hour. Coming back, he would’ve been that excited… that was contact on the jaw, I think he’ll be in a little bit of trouble there,” Fox League’s Steve ‘Blocker’ Roach said in commentary.

Corey Parker believes Waerea-Hargreaves could be looking at “one-to-two weeks” because of his prior charges.

“Goes a little high on Sam Verrills… the big story is will Jared play again this season? Just coming back from four weeks out for a similar role, has now just gone down that same path again,” he said.

Former Rooster Cooper Cronk agreed.

“I think that’s the thing that’s going to hurt him, he’s got carry overs, he’s got a record which will tip whatever charge it is up to another level,” he said.

It’s a bitter blow for the Roosters, who could now be without their leading enforcer for the final fortnight of the season — or perhaps even the beginning of the finals series.

The Roosters will be nervously awaiting the charge sheet from the match review committee, which will drop on Monday morning.
