THOMPSON, Ohio (WJW) — Those in Geauga County and beyond may have heard loud noises going off Saturday, and Thompson police are saying there’s nothing to be concerned about.

“If you’ve heard loud explosions or experienced shaking of your homes, it is explosive ordnance teams from the U.S. military setting off explosives at Sidley mining,” police said in a Facebook statement.
More detonations are expected this weekend.
“We understand the inconvenience this is causing many. Unfortunately, we do not have the authority to prevent federal activities,” police said.
Nearby Madison Village, in Lake County, also told people to refrain from calling 911 regarding the noise.
