Bettors aren’t shying away from Colorado ahead of Week 1 of 2024 college football season – MASHAHER

Bettors’ infatuation with Colorado isn’t going away as the official start of the 2024 college football season is just days away.

Deion Sanders’ revamped squad is the most-bet team at BetMGM ahead of Week 1. The Buffaloes are 9.5-point favorites at home against North Dakota State on Thursday night and are getting the most bets and money of any team over Labor Day weekend.

The spread has moved a point in Colorado’s favor since it opened as 62% of bets and 76% of the handle are on the Buffs to win by 10 or more. The total has also crept up a point to 59.5 as 77% of bets and 91% of the money is on the over. And yes, the total for the Buffaloes vs. Bison matchup is the most-bet of any game total this weekend as well.

Colorado enters its first season back in the Big 12 with stars Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter likely playing their final seasons of college football before heading to the NFL. Like it did ahead of the 2023 season, Colorado’s roster was remade over the offseason with transfers. The biggest focus via the portal came on the offensive line after Sanders was sacked over 50 times in 2023 and Colorado was one of the worst rushing teams in college football.

After starting 3-0 with wins over TCU and Nebraska in the first two weeks of last season, Colorado ended up finishing 4-8 with just one win in conference play. This year, Colorado plays seven Big 12 teams that went to bowl games a season ago and North Dakota State is an FCS powerhouse.

The second-most bet game in Week 1 is Notre Dame’s trip to Texas A&M. The Fighting Irish are 3-point favorites in Mike Elko’s debut as the Aggies’ head coach. Notre Dame is the third-most bet team against the spread behind Colorado and Georgia. The Bulldogs are 13.5-point favorites against Clemson.
