Officers from the State College Police Department were called for disorderly conduct at the downtown Champs location along S. Allen Street. Once police arrived, they observed Cox being held down by bar staff outside the restaurant.
Charges show that bar staff informed police that they asked Cox to leave and he refused, so they forcibly removed him. While removing him, Cox allegedly began assaulting the staff. According to the criminal complaint Cox punched one staff member and attempted to punch another. One victim told police he was bit on the hand which caused him to bleed.
While speaking with police, Cox allegedly admitted to fighting with bar staff, according to the affidavit. Police noted that Cox pulled skin from the bar staffer’s hand out of his mouth. They also noted he smelled of alcohol, was slurring his speech and was having trouble with his balance.
When EMS arrived, police said Cox became agitated again and began verbally berating EMTs. Charges show that he began to fight again, claiming officers were “raping him” and was attempting to bite all officers and EMS staff. Both officers reported they were bit by Cox.
Cox was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center and was sedated due to his behavior.
