Known for his humourous roles in the Maddock Supernatural Universe, Abhishek Banerjee is riding high on the compliments coming his way yet again for his role as Jana in the recently released trend-breaking film Stree 2. The film marks the return of the horror comedy franchise from the house of Maddock Films and features Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao in key roles along with Pankaj Tripathi, Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana in pivotal characters. As he discussed this mass appreciation being showered on him in an exclusive interview to Bollywood Hungama, Abhishek Banerjee reimagined the film if it was being made in the 90s.

In an interesting Rapid Fire Round with Abhishek Banerjee, the latter showcased his real-life quirky sense of humor as he indulged in a few fun sessions with Bollywood Hungama. During the same, we asked if he could recast the characters of Stree 2 if the film was made in the 90s and his response was “Sridevi” as Shraddha Kapoor’s character, “Shah Rukh Khan” as Vicky aka Rajkummar Rao’s character. Further, when he was asked about Jana, he answered, “Abhishek Banerjee. Chota Abhishek Banerjee le lete (they can take the young kid version of Abhishek Banerjee,” he shared jokingly but continued, “Let me think of someone who can play Jana. May be Salman Khan from Andaz Apna Apna. Think of him from that phase”.
The banter continued with him casting “Amrish Puri” as Rudra Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi), While talking about an actor taking over the role of the Stree 2 antagonist ‘Sarkata’, Abhishek Banerjee insisted, “Nahi. Koi nahi kar sakta woh role (No. No one can do that role). I think its impossible but yes one man can do it – Gulshan Grover”. He went on to name “Rekha” as the actress who take the role of Stree.
For the unversed, Abhishek Banerjee is a part of two franchises from the Maddock Supernatural Universe as he also plays a friend of Bhediya aka Varun Dhawan in the horror comedy. Apart from these two films, the universe also includes the Sharvari Wagh starrer Munjya as a part of it. And it is being said that the makers are currently working on a fourth franchise film Vampires of Vijaynagar starring Ayushmann Khurrana to be added to the list.
