Kings Should Check In On Maple Leafs’ Unsigned Forward – MASHAHER

The Los Angeles Kings appear to be in a contract stalemate with forward Arthur Kaliyev, and with the pending trade request submitted, it seems that the Kings are going to let this run its course.

In the meantime, the Toronto Maple Leafs are in a similar situation with their unsigned forward, Nick Robertson.

The Kings may benefit from checking in on his situation in Toronto and potentially proposing a trade to acquire the 22-year-old.

Currently, the Kings have $2.1 million in available cap space, which is more than enough to sign Robertson to a short-term deal, somewhere around $1 million per season.

The question is, what is the asking price for Robertson?

The Maple Leafs tend to be a tight-to-the-chest organization. Which makes it a bit difficult to determine what the price would be to draw him from Toronto’s system.

Regardless, the assumption would be based on the Maple Leafs roster that they would like an NHL-ready player or a player close to ready for the NHL.

A player like forwards Francesco Pinelli, Samuel Helenius, or defencemen Angus Booth could be interesting names for the Maple Leafs to target.

As for the Kings, they would part with a younger prospect to take on a bit of a proclamation project, but a low-risk, high-reward player in Robertson.
