Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has publicly apologised to the 13 crore people of the state for the recent collapse of a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, describing the incident as “very painful.”
The statue, a full-length depiction of the revered Maratha warrior king, had been erected at Rajkot Fort in Malvan last year on Navy Day.
Speaking on the matter, Ajit Pawar expressed his deep sorrow over the collapse, which he said affected him personally as it did all admirers of Shivaji Maharaj in Maharashtra.
“Shivaji Maharaj is our deity, and the collapse of his statue is a matter of great pain for me and all Shiva lovers in the state. As a part of the government, I apologize publicly today,” he said.
