Actor Vijay Varma, known for his roles in Pink, Mirzapur, and Gully Boy, has recently opened up about his personal journey with vitiligo. The skin condition, which causes white patches on the skin, has been a part of his life for years. In a recent interview with ETimes, Varma revealed that he has chosen to hide his vitiligo during film shoots. He explained that he doesn’t want his audience to be distracted by his skin condition and instead focus on his performance.

A Positive Outlook on Vitiligo
Varma has maintained a positive attitude towards his vitiligo. He believes that today’s audience is understanding and responsible, and he hasn’t encountered negative comments about his condition. He views vitiligo as a cosmetic issue that doesn’t significantly impact his life.
Varma admitted that vitiligo was a concern when he was struggling to find work in the industry. However, as he gained success and established himself as an actor, it no longer became an obstacle.
In his words: “I have covered it up for my movies because it just distracts, and I don’t want my audience to look at anything else except for what I want to show them, so that is the reason I hide it. But for all my public appearances, for all these years, I have never bothered to cover it up.”

In his upcoming Netflix series, IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, Varma portrays Captain Devi Sharan, the pilot of the 1999 hijacked Indian Airlines Flight 814. The series, directed by Anubhav Sinha and featuring a stellar cast, provides a detailed account of the dramatic events surrounding the hijacking.
