Bollywood actress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kangana Ranaut has sharply criticized Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) chief and ex-Punjab MP Simranjit Singh Mann after his controversial remarks about her. Mann’s statement, where he claimed that Ranaut has “a lot of experience of rape,” has sparked widespread outrage on social media.

The Controversial Comment
Simranjit Singh Mann made the shocking comment while addressing the media, in response to Kangana Ranaut’s earlier statement on the farmers’ protest, where she claimed that rapes took place during the protests. Mann stated, “I don’t want to say this but Kangana Ranaut has a lot of experience of rapes… You can ask her how rape happens so that people can be explained how rape happens.” He further compared Ranaut’s supposed experience to that of riding a bicycle, trivializing the issue in a manner that has drawn severe criticism.
Kangana Ranaut’s Response
Kangana Ranaut took to X (formerly Twitter) to express her outrage, condemning the ex-Punjab MP’s comments. She wrote, “It seems this country will never stop trivializing rape. Today, this senior politician compared getting raped to riding a bicycle. No wonder rapes and violence against women for fun is so deep-rooted in the psyche of this patriarchal nation that it is casually used to tease or mock a woman, even if she is a high-profile filmmaker or politician.”

Amidst the controversy, Kangana Ranaut continues to focus on her upcoming film Emergency, where she plays the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film, which she has also directed, features an ensemble cast including Shreyas Talpade, Milind Soman, Satish Kaushik, Anupam Kher, and Mahima Chaudry. Emergency is highly anticipated and expected to showcase Ranaut’s directorial and acting skills.
