Tropical disturbance in Atlantic gets increased development odds as second one emerges – MASHAHER

TAMPA, Fla.The National Hurricane Center is watching two disturbances in the Atlantic that could develop in the next several days.

One of the tropical waves, which is approaching the Lesser Antilles as of Thursday evening, has a 50% chance of development over the next week.

FOX 13 Meteorologist Nash Rhodes said it could become a tropical depression by early next week.

The second tropical wave being monitored by the NHC has just emerged off the coast of Africa, according to Rhodes.

As of Thursday evening, this second tropical wave has a 20% chance of development in the next week.

Although the tropics have been less active lately, there’s still about three months left in the Atlantic hurricane season, which usually peaks around Sept. 10. Once another storm develops, it will get the name Francine.
