‘Heartstopper’s’ Kit Connor Says Filming Sex Scenes Took ‘Seven Hours’ – MASHAHER

Kit Connor, the 20-year-old star of Netflix’s hit series “Heartstopper,” has revealed that filming intimate scenes for the upcoming third season was an extensive process.

In a new interview with The Sunday Times, Connor said his closeness with co-star Joe Locke made the process easier and that they have worked with the same intimacy coordinator since the first season.

“We’ve been taking baby steps. Season 1, he would be there making sure that we were comfortable holding hands. And now we’re doing the sex scenes,” Connor told The Sunday Times. “We shot a lot of footage for them. Not much actually ended up in the show. But we shot the sex scenes for about seven hours!”

The actor, who plays Nick Nelson in the coming-of-age drama series, explained that the show has matured along with its cast. “I wouldn’t say that we’ve outgrown the show because the show is growing in itself,” Connor said.

Elsewhere in the interview, Connor discussed his upcoming Broadway debut as Romeo opposite Rachel Zegler’s Juliet, saying that he is focusing on the performance rather than potential celebrity gatherings.

The actor also opened up about the challenges of fame, including being recognized in public. “Whenever I am stopped or can tell that someone’s clocked me I feel a bit naked,” Connor told The Sunday Times. He and Locke have been adjusting to their newfound celebrity status, acknowledging that certain activities, like “walking down Oxford Street on a Saturday morning,” are now off-limits due to the attention they attract.

Connor reflected on his experience of coming out as bisexual in 2023 after facing pressure on social media. “I really don’t think about it all that often, I’ve got to say, which I’m happy about,” he said. “I spoke about it endlessly. I think I said everything that there was to possibly ever say about that topic. I’ve moved on and I feel much better for it.”

Addressing social issues, Connor expressed his views on toxic masculinity, describing the concept as “completely alien” to him. He mentioned controversial figure Andrew Tate, stating that people like him are “not worth wasting breath on.” Connor highlighted how “Heartstopper” offers an alternative perspective for young viewers, noting, “Most of the characters — lesbians, gay men, trans, cis, asexual — they are just nice, you know?”

“Heartstopper” Season 3 premieres on Netflix on Oct. 3.
