Sweden Beats Finland In High Scoring Affair – MASHAHER


Sweden continues to stake claim to a spot among the world’s top women’s hockey nations. After beating Switzerland in their opening game of the 2024-2025 Women’s Euro Hockey Tour, Sweden beat the reigning world bronze medalists Finland 7-5 in game two of the event.

Isabelle Leijonhielm opened the scoring for Sweden with a helper from Wilma Sundin, before Finland put on an offensive push. Viivi Vainikka scored twice and added two assists for Finland, and Susanna Tapani and Noora Tulus scored to give Finland a 4-1 lead.

Sweden however, would go on a six goal unanswered run with goals from Ida Karlsson, Josefin Bouven, Leijonhielm, Sundin, Ebba Hedqvist, and Emma Forsgren.

Sanni Rantala would get one back late for the Finns, but Sweden held on for the 7-5 win.

Sweden closes out the first stop of the Women’s Euro Hockey Tour tomorrow against Czechia, while Finland will end their tournament against Switzerland.

Hungary Shuts Out France In Four Nations Tournament

In Germany, Hungary shutout France 4-0 in a Four Nations event of their own. Aniko Nemeth posted the shutout in net for Hungary, while Mira Seregely, Emma Kreisz, Bernadett Nemeth, and Fruzsina Mayer scored the Hungarian goals.
