X (formerly Twitter) is now working to enter into your TV interface as well. Just like Netflix and other OTT apps, now users will be able to access X on their TV. Today, Elon Musk confirmed that the X TV app’s beta version has already been released for Android TV. The beta version is live on LG, Amazon Fire TV, and Google TV devices for now, but there are high chances that it will come in more devices. While the exact launch date is not confirmed, it might come to different devices at different times. The same happened for the beta version. Amazon shows that the app came into their universe in late July, but LG got it on August 29.
X TV App: All details
Now the question is, coming to TV, will X only be a social media platform? The answer is we don’t think so. According to the description and screenshots shared on Google Play, the X TV app is essentially a new OTT stream. It states, “X-Stream Service TV is the awesome streaming TV service that is available exclusively to X-Stream Services Internet Subscribers. You can watch TV the way you want and anytime you want. There are no set-top box rentals required! You can watch all your favourite live Local, News, Sport, Movie, Music and Weather channels instantly or at a later time.”
The X TV app also includes several features like:
-Replay TV: Never miss your favourite show again! With Replay TV, X-Stream Services can store up to 72 hours of shows in the cloud, so you can access your shows instantly.
-Startover TV: You will never again miss the beginning of a movie or show that you wanted to watch. With the Startover TV feature, you can select what to watch from the beginning.
-Free Cloud DVR: Store up to 100 hours of DVR recordings for free. Additional storage available.
X TV app: How to use it?
As far as the beta version is concerned, the user must have an X account to watch the content on the application. For now, the app is only available for Android smart TVs. Search X TV and install it on your smart TVs.
How to subscribe to the application is still unknown to us. We think that this will only be disclosed on the launch date.
The launch of X TV app will add another option for users to consume content from. But it is not really a good news for other OTTs and video streaming applications like YouTube.
