Sonakshi Sinha surprised her fans by taking her relationship with co-star Zaheer Iqbal to the next level by announcing her wedding to him. But unlike the trend of big fat Indian wedding, the couple opted for an intimate and sweet ceremony amid family and close ones at their residence in Mumbai. However, they decided to extend the celebrations with others by hosting a reception bash for everyone. Speaking about opting for simple ceremonies, Sonakshi revealed that it was after her brother Kush’s wedding that she decided to opt for such an intimate and private ceremony.

In an interview with Galatta Plus, as Sonakshi Sinha discussed about the recent changes in her personal life and post marital bliss with actor Zaheer Iqbal, she also opened up about her wedding ceremonies. The actress revealed that she decided to stand firm on their decision of a simple wedding despite the extensive pressure around them. “There was pressure, but we were very clear on the kind of wedding that we wanted. If you go back a few years to my brother’s wedding, it was huge. There were like 5,000 or 8,000 people at each function. The first thing I told my mother after that was, ‘Meri shaadi waise nahi hogi’ (My marriage will not happen that way)”, she said.
She further went on to elaborate on what she exactly wanted and added, “We were very particular and clear that this is how we want to do it. This day comes once in our lives, and it’s very, very special, so we want to do it the way we want to do it, and our friends and family obliged,” she said. Despite their decision, Sonakshi admitted that some friends weren’t entirely happy. “Like you saw Huma (Qureshi) said, ‘We wanted more functions.’ My best friend and stylist, Mohit, said, ‘I want to give you five outfit changes,’ so he’s very upset with me that I only did one change”. After the wedding, the couple also took off on a long honeymoon to Philippines.
