Early-morning accident in Kirkland sends two to hospital – MASHAHER

KIRKLAND, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — Two people were taken to the hospital after their truck went down an embankment in Kirkland early Wednesday morning, according to Oneida County Sheriffs.

Officers were called to Route 5 in the town of Kirkland at approximately 3:20 am on Wednesday, September 4. Further investigation found that the truck — driven by 56-year-old Michael Sprague of Clinton — was driving eastbound down Route 5. Sheriffs say Sprague then failed to maintain his lane and left the roadway on the southern side.

His truck then crashed through a metal fence and went down an embankment before coming to rest in a nearby shallow creek. Sprague’s vehicle suffered heavy damage; However, officers say he suffered no personal injuries.

Sprague’s two passengers — 31-year-old Richard Wilson and 33-year-old Nena Loveland, both of Rome — were transported to the Wynn Hospital in Utica with minor injuries.

Oneida County Sheriffs were assisted at the scene by the New Hartford Police Department, the Central Oneida County Volunteer Ambulance Company, the Clinton Fire Department and the Clinton Collision tow company.

According to Oneida County Sheriffs, the accident is still under investigation at this time. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
