Several deputies and one other person were injured Thursday evening after a stolen car chase led police to Route 390.
Around 5:15 p.m., deputies spotted what appeared to be a stolen Kia sport utility vehicle near Lyell Avenue and Sherman Street in Rochester and attempted to stop the vehicle, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. The Kia fled from marked patrol cars.
During a pursuit, the Kia was operated in a reckless manner and struck patrol cars from the Rochester Police Department and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies said. The Kia stopped on the northbound lanes of Route 390, near Lexington Avenue and both people inside the stolen vehicle were taken into custody, deputies said.
The incident clogged traffic on the highway during the evening commute.
One of the two suspects suffered minor injuries and was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment. “Multiple” deputies suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene. Multiple charges were filed against the pair in the SUV, deputies said. Those charges were not released.
