People Are Doing Hit-And-Runs On California Cops Now

There’s truth to the statement that respect is earned, not just given away. Sure, some people supposedly respect anyone wearing a uniform, although we suspect that’s fear shrouded in a semblance of trust. But with police often hobbled and prosecutors going light on criminals in California, we’re seeing more incidents like a recent hit-and-run on a California Highway Patrol officer doing a traffic stop.

Your classic car is only one authoritarian politician away from being seized.

Aerial footage shared by ABC7 showed heavy damage in the rear portion of a CHP Ford Explorer Pursuit with clear markings and the traditional black and white color scheme. In other words, whoever hit the cop knew full well what they did, still choosing to run.

The report says the suspect was driving a Nissan pickup, but it doesn’t mention if it was a Frontier or Titan. Considering the amount of damage done to the cruiser, we’re going to guess it was a Titan, but that is indeed a guess.

Officers found that truck just a bit down the 91 Freeway in Anaheim from the scene of the crash. There’s no mention of it but we’re guessing the vehicle was stolen, so dumping it allowed the suspect to essentially get away with assaulting an officer using a deadly weapon.

This is far from the last time someone has purposely crashed into a CHP officer who was sitting on the side of a freeway. Back in March of 2024 we covered an intentional wrong-way crash on I-80 where the suspect hit a stationary CHP cruiser head-on. Thankfully, both officers who were in the vehicle were strapped in and so didn’t suffer any serious injuries.

In this case the CHP officer was injured, but it sounds like it wasn’t serious. Still, this is assault since it seems intentional, especially since the person who did it ran afterward. This is what happens when the police are made to look weak by officials both inside and outside law enforcement.
