When the Sony PlayStation 5 launched in 2020, it came with one pre-installed platform game called “Astro’s Playroom.” It was a short demo featuring an adorable caped robot that gave new gamers a feeling for the new console and the new PS5 DualSense Wireless Controller. And now, four years later, Sony dropped a full sequel simply titled “Astro Bot.”
Starting at $59, “Astro Bot” for PS5 is now available to purchase at Target.
Think of the character Astro Bot has in Sony’s version of Nintendo’s Mario or Sega’s Sonic The Hedgehog. The small robot is the PlayStation’s lead mascot for the console.
In addition, “Astro Bot” is available at Walmart, Best Buy and Amazon.
Sony
Developed by Team Asobi and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, “Astro Bot” is set on 80 levels in six galaxies across 50 planets. The small robot must save fellow bots from danger, totaling 300 bots to rescue throughout the game.
A few months ago, Sony issued a free DLC (downloadable content) for “Astro’s Playroom” that connects the previous game with the new one. Since all PS5 consoles come with “Astro’s Playroom” for free, it’s more than likely that “Astro Bot” will become a big hit for Sony. This is because every console owner has played the previous installment and are likely to want more from the character.
Meanwhile, Sony also dropped a new limited-edition Astro Bot PS5 DualSense Wireless Controller that perfectly matches the game to the controller. It’s cute, just like Astro Bot!
Beginning on Friday, Sept. 6, “Astro Bot” is available on Sony PlayStation 5 at Target, Walmart, Best Buy and Amazon with a starting price of $59. In the meantime, you can watch the launch trailer, below.
