Warwick Farm trainer Bjorn Baker will continue his assault on the country tracks of NSW when he sends around three top chances at Mudgee on Sunday.
Baker, who enjoyed success at Randwick on Saturday, will have Canadian Express, to be ridden by Heavelon Ven Der Hoven, and No Second Thoughts, which will have apprentice Olivia Chambers in the saddle, in a two-pronged attack on the Kelly’s Irish Pub Benchmark 58 Handicap (1400m).
“Canadian Express won his maiden at Mudgee earlier in the year so we know he likes the track,” said Baker.
“He’s had two runs back from a spell this preparation and he ran well when resuming at Nowra before getting back and not running on at Goulburn on a day when it was an advantage to be on the speed. He can improve sharply.”
No Second Thoughts clashed with Canadian Express in the Goulburn event and finished third after racing closer to the lead.
“She’s a handy mare with a good record,” Baker said of No Second Thoughts. “She has a win and five placings and she’s only had the seven starts, so she is never far from the action. Olivia rode her well at Goulburn and she sticks with her in the Mudgee race and her 1.5-kilogram allowance will help.”
Baker’s other runner at Mudgee will be the promising Rock Hard Love in the XXXX Mudgee Mug Class 1 Handicap (1200m).
