‘Arrest of Mamata Banerjee is crucial’: BJP MP Jyotirmay Mahato urges ED to investigate Bengal CM over Kolkata rape-murder case | India News – MASHAHER

NEW DELHI: BJP MP Jyotirmay Singh Mahato on Sunday wrote a letter to the Director of the Enforcement Directorate, urging a thorough investigation into the RG Kar Medical College rape-murder case and calling for the arrest of West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee.
The letter came after the recent Kolkata rape incident and allegations of financial misconduct related to a health scam, reportedly involving Sandip Ghosh.
In a post on X, BJP MP Jyotirmay Singh Mahato said, “I have written to the Director of the Enforcement Directorate, requesting a thorough investigation and the arrest of Mamata Banerjee in connection with the RG Kar incident and the Sandip Ghosh health scam. Evidence suggests widespread corruption and abuse of power in West Bengal’s health sector. The people deserve justice! #JusticeForRGKar #MamataResign.”

In his letter to the ED, BJP MP Jyotirmay Singh Mahato wrote, “The memo, signed by Sandip Ghosh, raises serious questions about evidence tampering. Was this entire operation carried out without the knowledge of the highest health authorities in West Bengal? It is hard to believe that such significant actions could be taken without the direct involvement or tacit approval of higher-ups. This brings us to chief minister Mamata Banerjee, who also holds the portfolio of health minister.”
“The corruption linked to Sandip Ghosh is not an isolated incident-it is symptomatic of a larger systemic failure within West Bengal’s healthcare system, which has collapsed under the weight of corruption. The arrest and investigation of Mamata Banerjee in her capacity as health minister is crucial, as her direct involvement in protecting individuals like Sandip Ghosh can no longer be overlooked,” Mahato added.
Earlier in the day, Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee faced another setback as TMC MP Jawhar Sircar resigned from both the party and politics, citing the Bengal government’s negligence in handling the Kolkata horror case.
In a public letter addressed to CM Mamata, Sircar criticised her leadership and demanded justice for the victim.
