RAIPUR: Four workers were killed and one sustained injuries after a hopper filled with coal collapsed on them at an alumina refinery in Chhattisgarh’s Surguja district on Sunday. As per preliminary information, a steep hopper mounted on a steel tower filled with coal fell on the labourers working right under it.
The accident occurred at Maa Kudargarhi Alumina Refinery in Silsila village.Officials said more workers could be trapped under the iron hopper. Efforts are on to find the missing. A police team reached the spot and rescue was launched swiftly following which, bodies of four labourers were retrieved while one worker who was critical was hospitalised. Officials said the hopper was used to load coal and was connected to a conveyor belt, a part of which was damaged.
