MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A North Memphis gas station has been shut down due to criminal activity.

The Memphis Police Department said the Tiger Mart in the 1100 block of Jackson Avenue was declared a public nuisance following a three-month investigation by the department’s Organized Crime Unit.

Investigators said the gas station has had a high number of police calls over the last two years.

According to MPD, from April 1, 2022, to June 6, 2024, there were approximately 736 calls and 103 reports at Tiger Mart.

The reports included murder, various thefts, criminal trespass, credit card/ATM fraud, intimidations, forgery, simple and aggravated assaults, felony and misdemeanor vandalism, emergency commitments, warrant pickups, shopliftings, robberies, DOA, carjackings, and drug violations.

MPD said between April of 2022 and June of 2024, officers made a total of 19 arrests at the gas station.

The arrests included 11 warrants, 14 criminal trespasses, four shoplifting misdemeanors, one simple assault, eight emergency commitments, one theft of a motor vehicle, two drug paraphernalia, one carjacking, and two aggravated assaults.

On August 29, 2024, the Shelby County General Sessions Court Division 14 granted a temporary injunction/restraining order against the Tiger Mart, temporarily closing the business and deeming it a Public Nuisance.
