We’ve explored the beta for a few months now, enjoying upgrades such as better screen customization and refreshed versions of familiar apps. With iPadOS 18’s full release due on Sept. 16, let’s look at some of the coolest features coming soon to Apple’s tablets.
1. Apple Intelligence
The most attention-grabbing feature for new iPhones and iPads is Apple’s embrace of artificial intelligence. Apple Intelligence uses Apple’s generative models to perform AI tasks like editing messages, arranging photos contextually, and providing useful information. Apple Intelligence works with Apple’s servers to keep data private, a serious AI concern. Beta users haven’t had access to Apple Intelligence features, which require dedicated technology built into Apple’s upcoming chips, but we’re curious to see the final results. 2. Productivity Enhancements Via Notes

The iPad has always been a great gaming device. Arguably, the larger screen makes it more comfortable for epic quests than a cramped iPhone display. Game Mode on iPadOS 18 improves the slate’s battery life by reducing background activity. It also reduces Bluetooth latency for smoother controls. The iPad hardware enables impressive gaming, with its most recent chips supporting advanced graphical features like ray tracing. It powers AAA games like the upcoming .
5. Tab Bar and Sidebar’s Easy Operation
The iPad’s large size means you can have more things on screen, but you also have more things to track. With iPadOS 18, you can easily navigate the tablet using the tab bar and sidebar. These compact bars float on top of whatever app you’re using to provide a speedy way to flip between different apps segments (or switch to another app entirely). That way, even a deep and complex app feels intuitive on iPad.
