MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Several calls made to officers about a driver of a big rig driving erratically in Merced County led to the 31-year-old driver being arrested for driving under the influence (DUI), according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officials say it happened in the area of Southern Pacific Avenue near Franklin Road in Merced County around 9:19 a.m. on Sunday.
According to officers, they received several calls from people reporting a big rig “driving erratically on the road.”
CHP says thanks to those calls, officers were able to locate the big rig and safely bring it to a stop.
That’s when officers say they determined the driver was driving under the influence. The man, identified as 31-year-old Sukhdev Singh of Modesto, was placed under arrest at the scene.
CHP says they would like to extend their gratitude to the community for their assistance and would like to remind the community to always report suspicious or dangerous driving behavior because their call could save lives.
