Rapper Badshah recently shared a candid story about how he turned down a key role in Karan Johar’s segment of the Lust Stories anthology. In a conversation with The Lallantop, Badshah revealed that Johar had offered him the role that ultimately went to actor Vicky Kaushal.
Badshah recalls rejecting Karan Johar’s offer to act in Lust Stories and Good Newwz: “I thought he was joking”
Badshah recalled, “I was offered Vicky Kaushal’s role in Lust Stories. Karan sir told me, ‘There’s a role of a guy who can’t satisfy his wife’. And I was like, ‘Yeh kya baat hui sir? Main aisa lagta hoon kya (Do I look like someone who can’t satisfy his wife)?’”
At the time, Badshah was focused on maintaining his image and didn’t feel comfortable playing such a character. “I thought Karan sir was joking. We were judging a show together, Dil Hai Hindustani, and he mentioned it casually. I laughed it off, but he brought it up again later,” he said. Ultimately, Badshah declined the role, saying, “I didn’t know if I’d be able to do it. I was taking myself too seriously back then.”
Another Missed Opportunity in Good Newwz
Interestingly, this wasn’t the only major Karan Johar production that Badshah turned down. He was also offered a role in Good Newwz, a film that starred Akshay Kumar, Diljit Dosanjh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Kiara Advani. Badshah was asked to audition for the role that eventually went to Diljit Dosanjh. He explained, “I was trekking in Manali when I missed Karan sir’s call. He wanted me to come to Mumbai and audition with Rajkummar Rao. The role was of a character who can’t have kids, but I wasn’t sure about it.”
However, Badshah made his acting debut soon after in Khandani Shafakhana, where he played a rapper dealing with erectile dysfunction. “I did it because I wanted to spread awareness, and it was a very good film,” he added.
Speaking of Lust Stories, eventually, the role was passed to Vicky Kaushal, and Diljit Dosanjh played the lead opposite Kiara Advani in Good Newwz.
