Michael B. Jordan has selected his sophomore directorial effort, opting to direct a reimagining of “The Thomas Crown Affair.”
Jordan had already signed on to star in the Amazon MGM Studios movie, which will get a worldwide theatrical release, as well as produce via his Outlier Society banner alongside Elizabeth Raposo. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but Jordan will direct from a script by Drew Pearce. A previous draft was written by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson, which was based on the original 1968 film starring Steve McQueen.
Patrick McCormick and Marc Toberoff will also serve as producers on “Thomas Crown Affair.” Alan Trustman, writer of the 1968 film, is an executive producer.
Outlier Society has both a first-look film deal and overall television deal with Amazon MGM Studios and Jordan’s feature directorial debut “Creed III” was a massive hit, earning a franchise record $276 million at the worldwide box office.
Jordan is repped by M88 and WME. Deadline was first to report news of his directing deal.
