Director Mudassar Aziz, who recently teamed up with Akshay Kumar for their latest movie Khel Khel Mein, reminisced about his childhood memories of watching Garam Masala in theatres. In an interview with India Today, the filmmaker shared, “As a little boy, I watched Garam Masala and laughed my lungs out.” Mudassar expressed how much the film had impacted him and how it became one of his favourite Akshay Kumar performances, making the opportunity to work with him a significant milestone in his career.

The filmmaker reflected on the surreal experience of working with Akshay, whom he had admired since his younger days. Aziz stated, “The journey from watching his movies in theatres to personally working with him has been such a wonderful ride.” He expressed his excitement over the collaboration and the ease with which they worked together on the sets of Khel Khel Mein. Aziz also described Akshay as not only a talented actor but an insightful and intelligent individual, who understands the nuances of filmmaking.
Akshay Kumar’s perceptiveness and awareness
Praising Akshay’s keen awareness, Aziz revealed that he is very perceptive about the industry and stays informed about the chatter surrounding him, including any negative feedback. However, the director emphasized that Akshay doesn’t let this influence his choices. “He’s not someone who carelessly brushes aside negative chatter. He listens, but it doesn’t dictate his next move,” said Aziz, highlighting the actor’s maturity in dealing with criticism.

As for what’s next for Akshay, the actor is gearing up for the release of Sky Force, a war drama co-starring Nimrat Kaur and Sara Ali Khan. Directed by Abhishek Anil Kapur and Sandeep Kewlani, the movie is set to hit theatres on January 24, 2025.
