Donald Trump has touched down in Philadelphia ahead of the debate, giving the cameras a wave and his custom fist bump as he disembarked his jet.
The Trump motorcade passed by a smattering of supporters waving Trump banners and flags en route to the National Constitution Centre.
Meanwhile, Republican governor of North Dakota Doug Burgum has told ABC News in the US the former president will focus on reducing inflation, securing the border, ending wars overseas and bringing manufacturing jobs back to America.
“When he’s talking about that, he’s winning, and I think you’re going to see him do a lot of winning tonight,” Burgum said.
He also made it clear what Trump doesn’t want to talk about in this debate – abortion. “This is not a federal issue, he’s said he won’t sign a federal ban, I think he’s been super clear on that,” Burgum said.
“He supports exceptions, he supports IVF, he supports all the things the Democrats are running on. He’s effectively one of the first Republican candidates in memory that’s taken this issue off the table at a national level.”
