LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A woman is accused of stealing nearly $40,000 from a man in Las Vegas after they drank together at a casino resort and she was invited to his apartment, police documents show.
On June 12, a man met and shared drinks with a woman at a Las Vegas Strip casino and, later that evening, invited her to his apartment, according to an arrest warrant.
The next day, he woke up to find that $600 in cash was missing. Additionally, his bank statement showed a negative balance of $6,500, despite his account originally having $17,000, police said. He also discovered email notifications of a $4,912 Venmo transaction and a $17,500 transfer from his cryptocurrency account, according to the warrant.
The victim’s total loss was approximately $40,000.
Police obtained video surveillance footage from the casino that showed the woman leaving the property in order to identify her.
Police said although the man admitted he could not remember much of the night, he stated he would be able to identify her if he saw her again.
The woman was later identified as Monica Falcon, according to the report.
Court records show that previously Falcon faced charges of soliciting, engaging in prostitution, and trespassing.
Records revealed a phone number associated with Falcon. Investigators contacted her and asked her to come to the LVMPD Headquarters to provide a statement, but she declined, responding with “no,” police said.
Falcon was arrested in August and faces charges of theft with a value of $25,000 or greater but less than $100,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 4.
