CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Charlotte area dentist has been arrested and charged with child abuse, according to Mecklenburg County court and jail records.
Ramesh Kumar Sunar, 61, has been charged with misdemeanor child abuse and communicating threats. He was booked into the Mecklenburg County detention center on Tuesday, Sept. 10.
According to court documents, Sunar is accused of unlawfully and willfully inflicting serious injury to a child less than 16 years old.
Records state the physical injury inflicted on the juvenile “caused bruising on the torso and neck” and was “inflicted by other than accidental means.”
The suspect reportedly told the juvenile victim that he would, “Beat the sh** out of him” and the threat was “made in a manner and under circumstances which would cause a reasonable person to believe that the threat was likely to be carried out,” court records said.
Documents state the incident happened on Monday, Sept. 2. Sunar’s bond was set at $7,500 unsecured. He is due back in court on Oct. 8.
Sunar is listed as a skilled dental implant specialist in Charlotte.
