CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) — Officials in Cumberland County announced dozens of arrests in connection to a recent operation.
The Cumberland County District Attorney’s office announced the arrests of up to 55 individuals as part of a months-long, multi-jurisdictional investigation, called Operation “Speed Bump.” There were 24 people arrested for dealing drugs and 31 more people are being arrested on warrants that are being served Wednesday.
The operation began in January.
The DA says the quality and quantity show signs of Mexican cartel drugs, meaning these drugs could’ve been smuggled into the States. Undercover buys were happening and those officials say the prices for the drugs have dropped significantly.

Below are the amounts of drugs that were confiscated during the operation:
-
316 grams of crack cocaine
-
7,000 grams, or roughly 17 pounds, of methamphetamines
-
9 grams of heroin and fentanyl
“Four or five years ago, when we were purchasing these drugs, it was $800 to $1000 we were spending during those purchases,” District Attorney Sean McCormack said during a press conference. “In recent times, when we’re looking for an ounce of this, we’re talking about $150 to $200. That’s a much lower cost. That tells us that the market is flooded here currently.”
“We’re being told that this is consistent with product that is being made outside of the United States and smuggled into the United States,” McCormack added. “Drug dealers do not respect jurisdictional boundaries. We cannot have our investigations dictated by those boundaries.”
