Earthquake hits Los Angeles area: Magnitude 4.7 tremors felt near Malibu, California – MASHAHER

A 4.7 magnitude earthquake struck the Los Angeles area on Thursday morning, as reported by the US Geological Survey.
The epicenter was located approximately 4 miles (7 kilometers) north of Malibu, with a depth of about 7 miles (11 kilometers) below the surface.
The tremor was felt across a wide area, extending as far as 45 miles (72 kilometers) away in Orange County.Residents in the affected regions reported experiencing swaying lamps and other household items moving during the quake.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said fire authorities are surveying the city. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services is actively monitoring the situation and assessing any potential damage caused by the earthquake. This event is one of several quakes that have occurred in the area throughout the year.
In August, a 4.4 magnitude earthquake was felt from Los Angeles to San Diego, causing buildings to sway, dishes to rattle, and car alarms to be triggered.
Rene Vasquez, manager at The Country Kitchen breakfast place in Malibu, said the shaking lasted a few seconds and kitchen staff ducked outside as a precaution, but there was no damage.
“It wasn’t that bad. Thank God nothing fell,” Vasquez news agency AP.
People took to social media to post they were awakened by a jolt early Wednesday, including several celebrities who posted on X.
Paris Hilton wrote on X “That #Earthquake was scary,” and Khloe Kardashian posted “Damn that was a big one.”
The quake comes as the region has been dealing with three major wildfires burning east of Los Angeles that torched dozens of homes and forced thousands to evacuate.
