EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A 22-year-old man drove a motorcycle 124 mph while trying to get away from a trooper who was trying to pull him over for speeding on Interstate 84 East, according to state police.

Dalton Veiga, of Farmington, has been charged with reckless driving, disobeying the signal of an officer and operating a motorcycle without an endorsement. He has been released on a $10,000 bond.

State police spotted Veiga at about 9:50 p.m. Tuesday near Exit 58 in East Hartford, according to troopers. Veiga was with another motorcycle driver, and they were both driving more than 90 mph.

The motorcycles sped up when the trooper tried to stop them, and the trooper called off the chase due to safety concerns. Veiga was later found at the address the motorcycle was registered to.
