In his media availability, forward Owen Beck was asked about Hutson, and he couldn’t help but say that he’s quite a player and flashy to watch as well. Mind you, everyone who watched the Canadiens’ last two games this past season could have told you that. He added he’s full of skills and will definitely turn some heads at camp.

Filip Mesar also met with the media and explained how he settled down in Kingston in his second season and how he’s acclimated well to the lifestyle and style of play on this side of the pond. Asked if he was considering living with long-time friend Juraj Slafkovsky this season, he replied his countryman now had a new apartment with four bedrooms, but since Mesar now has a girlfriend, he’ll be looking for his own place. He will, however, see his friend when they have free time. Competing in his third camp, he explains he knows how everything works there and knows everyone now, making it easier for him.

Mailloux reiterated his goal to play in the NHL this season, and he feels he is ready. Of course, he’ll keep doing his best if he is sent back to Laval. Francophone Canadiens fans will be glad to know he even answered a question in French about how he felt in Montreal. He replied full of confidence, saying not only that he loves Montreal but that he would like to spend his whole career there.

When asked about playing with Hutson in the morning drills, he explained he’s great to play with because he always finds a way to get the puck to you. As for forming a pairing with him, the youngster believes that both of their defensive game are rounded up enough to make them a viable pair. He was also questioned about playing with Arber Xhekaj and it was cleared he enjoyed that partnership, he also mentioned they talk to each other all the time.

As for Hutson, he informed the media that he wouldn’t be living alone this season. No, he will not live at one of the team’s veteran’s houses, but his mother will come to live with him. He appeared excited at that prospect, saying he hadn’t lived with her for quite some time and admitted that she is also a great cook with a smile.

On the hockey front, he explained he enjoyed playing with Mailloux in the drills today, saying he moves very well. While he hopes to make the big team, he’ll be willing to go to the AHL if that’s in the cards.
