Connor Watson crusher tackle, on report, match review committee, Sydney Roosters vs Penrith Panthers – MASHAHER

The Sydney Roosters will be sweating on the match review committee after hooker Connor Watson was placed on report for a crusher tackle in their finals clash with Penrith.

The Roosters were reeling at 24-0 down at halftime and will be hoping a suspension doesn’t add to their woes.

The tackle in the 22nd minute on James Fisher-Harris appeared accidental and was not deemed a sin bin offence by referee Ashley Klein.

However, with Brandon Smith already ruled out for the year, the Roosters cannot afford to lose another dummyhalf for their do or die semi-final clash next week.

“Might have been a crusher here,” Michael Ennis said on Fox League.

“He just turned in the tackle and it is Connor Watson on James Fisher-Harris’ neck.”

Klein wasted no time in placing Watson on report.

“You put pressure on the back of the neck, dangerous contact” Klein said to Watson as the Panthers were given a penalty and great field position.

“That’s a quick decision, no 10 minutes here,” Dan Ginnane noted.

The Roosters will be hoping Watson can escape with a fine as they need all hands on deck to advance next week.
