Collingwood will head into their match against Brisbane as the underdogs, which isn’t ideal news for the Magpies, who desperately need the win.
Under new head coach Sam Wight, they’ve started their 2024 campaign with two losses, first to Sydney, then Hawthorn.

There’s been reasons to explain this.
The biggest being player selection after a slew of injuries, including Lauren Butler (calf), Imogen Evans (hamstring) Kalinda Howarth (ACL), Mikayla Hyde (foot) and Annie Lee (knee). Then throw in Tarni White’s three-match suspension for a bump on Sydney’s Maddy Collier in week one.
Last week, the Pies were forced to name two VFLW players as emergencies to reach the minimum 24 players required for game day.
But a 0-3 start, in an 11 game home-and-away season, makes things very hard to come back for. Not impossible, but hard.
So, you can expect them to come out fighting for the crucial four points tonight against the Lions. Expect some heat.
