MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A person was killed in a shooting by Olive Branch Police officers Monday morning, according to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.
Olive Branch Police say around 9:30, officers were serving a search warrant for two counts of child pornography possession to 59-year-old Mark Miller, who had recently moved from out of state to 9142 Railroad Avenue.
“While attempting to serve the warrant, the suspect opened fire on the officers and the officers returned fire,” police said in a news release.
Miller is dead. The officers were not injured, police said.

“I’m really shocked,” a resident said.
The consensus from people who spoke with WREG is that this is typically a quiet community where everyone keeps to themselves.
“It’s a very peaceful community,” a resident said. “The biggest thing is public intoxication or something like that – nothing of this magnitude. And it’s really shocking.”
The MBI says a SWAT Team was serving a warrant for two counts of child pornography when the suspect pointed a weapon toward the officers and officers shot and killed him.

Olive Branch Police have a slightly different story. They say Miller shot at the officers and that’s when they returned fire.
“The cops have to do their job and if the man is guilty, he should’ve went peacefully with officers,” a resident said.
No information has been released regarding Miller’s child pornography case at this time.
Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is handling the case.
