Transfer Talk: Inter lead Milan, Juve in race to sign David – MASHAHER

The transfer window might be shut across Europe’s top five leagues, but the rumour mill keeps on turning! Transfer Talk brings you all the latest buzz, comings, goings and, of course, done deals!

TOP STORY: Race for Canada star David heats up

Internazionale will aim to see off competition from Napoli, AC Milan, Juventus and others to sign Lille striker Jonathan David in the summer, according to Calciomercato.

The Serie A club has had success signing free agents in recent years and they will look to repeat that with the 24-year-old, whose Lille contract is currently set to expire in the summer of 2025.

Any interest will only be added to by the fact that there had not been any negotiations for the Canada international to extend his deal with Les Dogues until now.

Inter are planning to get ahead of the competition by reaching an agreement with David by the first weeks of the new year — with Juventus being the club whose presence I Nerazzurri is most aware of as they aim to complete the signing.

David has started the campaign with three goals and two assists in eight matches across all competitions for Lille.

PAPER GOSSIP

– Manchester City are hoping to sign Xavi Simons as Kevin De Bruyne’s long-term successor, according to Football Insider, which adds that there will be competition from Liverpool and Bayern Munich for the Paris Saint-Germain attacking midfielder currently on loan at RB Leipzig. This comes with De Bruyne being out of contract at the end of the season.

– Torino are hoping to renew Samuele Ricci’s contract with AC Milan, Internazionale and Napoli all showing interest in the midfielder, reports Calciomercato, while there are also other top European clubs looking at the 23-year-old. Ricci’s current contract runs until 2026 but Il Toro are hoping to extend that to 2029, as they want at least €35 million if the Italy international is to leave Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.

Michail Antonio and Danny Ings could leave West Ham United in January, claims Football Insider, with both forwards having contracts that expire at the end of the season. The Hammers could look to do this to free up squad space and wages so that they can bring in another striker during the winter window.

– Empoli can permanently sign goalkeeper Devis Vásquez from AC Milan for €900,000, as reported by Matteo Moretto, with the 26-year-old currently on loan at the Serie A club.
