WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (PIX11) – Two people died in a fiery crash involving a Tesla in White Plains on Monday.
The crash happened on Battle Avenue near Waldo Avenue. The 70-year-old driver of the Tesla lost control coming down a hill and crashed into a tree and a house, police said.
The driver and her passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. Three people outside the Tesla, including a jogger, suffered minor injuries, police said.
A woman who lives in the apartment told PIX11 News the crash damaged a wall, knocked out a window, and caused fire and smoke damage to a bedroom.
“The Tesla apparently slammed into what would’ve been my son’s room. It looks like my son’s room was completely burnt out,” said Zaneta Williams, whose apartment was damaged. “I had just left for work 15 minutes earlier than this happened.”
The two victims who died in the crash were identified as 70-year-old Millie Sheehan and 36-year-old Diana Sheehan.
The victims were relatives and lived in Hartsdale, authorities said. Diana Sheehan was a mother of two children.
Police were still working to determine what caused the crash.
